Green Fest Chicago 2013

I had a chance to check out this year’s Green Fest Chicago and let me tell you it was amazing! Green Festival is not only the largest sustainability event in the world it is also the only festival that with the goal to be a zero waste event.
With over 300 green business both large and small the festival boasted a myriad of products and services ranging from all-natural body care products to Fair Trade gifts made from recycled materials. There was an extensive vegan food court, musicians, guest speakers, great how-to workshops and even fun activities for kids. I was only able to attend the last of the three day festival this year. Next year I plan to have a booth with a full display of my glass window farms, but I digress.
Some of my favorites from the fest were the vertical growing platform with a built in lighting system, jewelry made from old silverware, an interactive bicycle bicycle display that showed several ways to harness power from bicycles. I even bought a few things for myself. I picked up a new bracelet handmade from soda pull tabs as well as a kit to make candles from used cooking oil.
This year’s Green Fest way exceeded my expectations. It was fun for all ages. I left inspired and eager to join in on the fun next year.
